With Christmas coming up, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is once again promoting their annual #LightTheWorld campaign along with their increasingly well-known giving machines. Returning to partner with the Church for a second year, the Kansas City Chiefs are promoting the giving machine in Kansas City.
Travis Kelce, who is known both for being a high level football player and for being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, has become one of the primary promoters of the giving machine in Kansas City. He has also been joined in this effort by several other athletes on his team. Kelce said in a video, “You know how much I love to give back to this community, and this holiday season we have a fun way we can all give back. Check out the giving machine… Make someone else’s Christmas or holidays that much better.”
Head coach of the Chiefs, Andy Reid, has also been vocal in promoting the giving machines. He said, “Imagine going to a vending machine and being able to purchase food, clothing, supplies, or medicine for people right here in our Kansas City community. … I think it’s so great that we can teach our grandchildren that it is so much better to give to others than to receive.” Coach Reid is also a faithful Latter-day Saint who has spoken about how he integrates his faith into being a coach.
There have been other celebrities who have helped promote the giving machines including actor Paul Rudd, who is from Kansas City, who also recorded a promotional video for the giving machine in which he invited us to, “help spread a little joy this Christmas and help our community.”
If you’re in the Kansas City area then you can learn more about your giving machine at the Giving Machine Kansas City website. The grand unwrapping of the machine will be on November 30th at 9:00AM. It will be open through January 1st 2025.
Not near Kansas City? Or maybe not a Kansas City Chiefs fan? No need to worry. The Church has announced giving machines in over 100 different locations this year. From Hong Kong to San Antonio and even Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi, there are a variety of locations where you can go with your friends and family to help with lighting the world this Christmas season.

It's nice seeing pro athletes and celebrities actually promoting something good rather than promoting politics or just acting like entitled jerks.
I'm not interested in any liberal trash attached to T. Swift. Just because he hangs with a celebrity doesn't make his comments towards the church more appealing.
And this is why the Chiefs are God's team!
